Cooper, my 13-year-old german shepherd mix suffered from degenerative myelopathy.  This is a slowly degrading paralysis caused by a closing of the spine.  Pat would sit for Cooper and massage his old bones to relive his discomfort and express his bowels when necessary. 

A few years later I adopted Jersey, a shepherd of indeterminate age that suffered from severe hip dysplasia.  The last few months of her life Pat would take care of her while I was gone.  The relief it gave Jersey was wonderful.  The piece of mind it gave me was just as appreciated.  I would highly recommend her to anyone needing someone special to look after their dog.

Our dog, Baxter, stayed with Pat at The Comfy Canine for 10 days while our family went on vacation. He was extremely shy at first, but the other dogs were all so welcoming that by the time we were ready to leave him the first day, he was already playing along with all the others. We came back into town to find Baxter healthy, running the household and not wanting to say goodbye to his new friends. Baxter had the time and space needed to rest, to play, and to get used to socializing with other people and dogs. Pat even sent us updates by email to reassure us while we were gone! We would not hesitate to have Baxter stay with Pat again (in fact we think that he wants us to leave again just so he can go back for a playdate).
